Abstract

154,544. Reijners, L. Nov. 20, 1918, [Convention date]. Covers; dust, excluding; oil, retaining.-To exclude dust and to prevent the escape of oil from a shaft bearing, a rib 8 projecting from the curve 2 fits loosely into a groove 7 in the casing 1, oil, grease, rubber &c. being placed in the groove as a sealing-material. The groove 7 terminates in a felt groove 10 at each end of the bearing and any gaps which may occur at the ends of the grooves 7 are covered by pieces 11 projecting upwards from the casing 1. In the case of ring-lubricated or like bearings overflow grooves 9 are provided to return oil from the groove 7 to the well.
