Oil, retaining. - To prevent the oil in a ball bearing from being thrown on to packing-material 11 which surrounds the shaft, one or more disks 14 separated by distance rings 15 are interposed between the balls and the cover 9 of the bearing. The disks are held in place by a spring 16 or by screws &c., and are perforated in the lower part at 17 to enable oil which drains down to return to the bearing.
