Abstract

178,972. Vanderbeek, H. Feb. 4, 1921. Oil, retaining in shaft bearings.-A flexible disc 8 of cork &c. is secured at its outer periphery to a stationary part of the bearing, and is pressed at its inner periphery against an annular member 10 secured on the shaft 1 by a series of spring fingers 11 formed on a ring 12 secured to a stationary part of the bearing. The invention is described in connection with a conical roller bearing for a motor-vehicle axle, in which the outer race-ring 5 is mounted against a rib 7 in a sleeve 6 threaded into the housing 2. The disc 8 and ring 12 are held against the other face of the rib 7 by a nut 14. The annular member 10 is arranged so that the disc 8 is slightly dished.
