Abstract

234,642. Parkinson, A., and Parkinson, Ltd., F. & A. June 4, 1924. Ball and roller bearings; covers; oil, retaining. -A shaft 10 for an electric motor or the like has a ball bearing 11 at the non-driving end and a roller bearing 12 at the driving end. The cover for the ball bearing 11 is a complete disc 21 the other covers 22, 26, 27 having glands 24 with grease grooves 25. The covers have spigots 21a, 22<a>, 26a, 27<a> respectively to form lubricant tight housing and to position the outer bearing rings The outer ball race ring 14 may have slight end play. The housings are lined with grease and filled with a less viscous lubricant, the former filling the gland grooves and preventing escape of the latter.
