Abstract

Resistances.-A heating-resistance consists of thin iron strips forming channels with closed ends and individually rigidly connected together at the ends. The strips a, of U-section, may be welded to metal spacing-pieces e, Fig. 1, in and between the channels, pieces d of fire-proof insulating- material being closely inserted where required. In a modification, Fig. 2, the strips a are squeezed together at the ends, bent at right-angles, and welded, bolted, rivetted, or otherwise connected together. In this case the strips may be arranged in a frame without insulating-pieces between them. The channels may be filled with a fireproof heat-accumulating mass, such as steatite, which may be held in place by slightly pressing inwards the edges of the strips.
