Abstract

153,819. Hood, J. B. Feb. 11, 1920. Locking nuts.-A nut is locked by a spring coil 3 engaging the screw-thread of the bolt close to, but not in contact with, the upper face of the nut, one end 4 being anchored in a hole 6 in the nut, and the other end 5 being bent round the fixed end. The free end 5 projects out and may be operated to release the nut. In a modification, the end 5 is cut off near to the fixed end 4. The coil is preferably of slightly smaller diameter than the bolt, and may consist of round steel wire, or the wire may be of special section to fit closely in the threads. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 949/84 and 15760/11.
