Abstract

Couplings.-A heating-resistance wire 14 is wound on a lava or other cylindrical insulating- core 1, in longitudinal holes 2, 3 in which the terminals 4, 5 are inserted. The ends of the resistance wire are connected to the terminals within the core by passing through radial holes 8, 9 in the core and coinciding holes 10, 11 in the terminals, which are then twisted to tighten the wire, as shown in Fig. 3. The terminals 4, 5 pass through holes in mica or other insulating washers 17 held by a ring 20 screwed into one end of the sheath.
