Abstract
339,464. Wilkinson, G. Nov. 22, 1929. Wire resistances, enclosed and cored. - In an electric heating- element of the type comprising a wire wound on a helically grooved core consisting of several sections held together by a longitudinal bolt which serves as a return conductor more than one such bolt is provided in addition to a further passage to accommodate conductors for a three-heat apparatus or the like. In the arrangement shown, the three sections a, a<1> a<2> are secured together by bolts d, d<1> carrying nuts and washers g, h for electric connections. Refractory insulating caps i, i<1> are screwed on to the ends of the bolts d, d<1>. The bolts also serve to secure insulating end shrouds b, b<1> which centre the core in a casing t. The sections a, a<1>, a<2> may be separated by discs l, Fig. 3, of a diameter to fit the casing t. Passages n, n<1> in the disc l lead to a central passage e<1> in the core which contains three-heat or other connections.
