Abstract

1529826 Apparatus for cultivating sugar cane INSTITUTO NACIONAL DE LA REFORMA AGRARIA 30 Dec 1975 [30 Dec 1974] 53191/75 Heading A1B Apparatus for cultivating sugar cane, comprises means for working surface soil, for working sub-soil, and for delivering fertilizer to the soil. The apparatus straddles a row of sugar cane, and operates on the soil between adjacent rows. The horizontal rotary hoes 8 are rotated (to work the surface soil) by sprockets-and-chain 7 driven by half-shafts lying within a tube 6 and rotated via a reduction gearbox 10 by the tractor power take-off. The sub-soil is worked by ploughs 2, 5 vertically and horizontally adjustably clamped to the tube 6. Fertilizer is fed to tubes 18 from the hoppers 3 by a worm gear 14 driven by chain-and-sprockets 17 from the input shaft of the gearbox 10. The tubes 18 are secured to the rears of the inner pair of sub-soil ploughs 5, so that fertilizer is delivered to the roots at each side of the row of sugar cane plants. Two adjustable mouldboards are attached to the inner subsoil plough 5 for turning soil to close, and level or earth the furrow up. Flexible soil working shares are also mounted on the bar 26 for working fertilizer into the soil. Shields 9 are provided over the rotary hoes 8.
