Abstract
1528244 Projectile fuzes SpA FRATELLI BORLETTI 10 Feb 1976 [11 Feb 1975] 05150/76 Heading F3A A percussion fuze for a projectile comprises a diaphragm 19 forming a perfect seal between a detonator 20 and a latch 15 for interrupting a powder chain. The diaphragm prevents the infiltration of azidic acid into the chamber of the detonator 20 and prevents the formation of copper azide in the region of the detonator. Parts of the fuze made of copper are coated with nickel or tin so as to resist attack by azidic acid. Upon firing the projectile, a bolt 16 sets back and the latch 15 is moved by centrifugal force to align a charge 18 with the detonator 20 and a transmission charge 14. A bolt 9 also sets back to release a locking ball 11 and a centrifugal bolt 12 is withdrawn to complete the release of a slide 4. Upon impact of the projectile with its target, the transmission charge 14 is ignited by a charge 3, ignited by a direct impact striker 2, or by a charge 6 if the impact is a grazing impact and results solely in the slide 4 being thrown towards a striker 5.
