Abstract
1523589 Couplings for cable armourings BICC Ltd 20 Nov 1975 [21 Nov 1974 13 Feb 1975] 50578/74 and 6222/75 Heading H2E The annularly corrugated metal sheath 10 of a cable is secured to a cable gland 11 either by only one rigid annular member bearing on the two sides 8, 9 of a trough (see Fig. 1, not shown) or by two rigid annular members 1, 13 urged together to bear on the opposite sides 9, 15 of a crest, or of a small group of crests (not shown), or possibly urged axially apart to bear on the nearest sides of two crests (not shown). The member 1 is either engaged with the sheath as two or more parts which are screwed or otherwise joined together, or formed in situ (e.g. by casting or wrapping semi-cured resin bonded glass fibre tapes), although member 13 may be engaged in its position as an integral ring. The or each annular member may be insulating or at least one may be of a suitable metal to respectively isolate or connect the sheath and gland.
