Abstract

1520716 Tear-off cap ALUMINUM CO OF AMERICA 1 Feb 1977 [25 Feb 1976 (2)] 04045/77 Heading B8T [Also in Division B3] A tear-off cap is drawn from a disc into a cup shape 2 partially separated from a side wall 15 by an incomplete line of shearing 14, and the side wall 15 is then curled into a bead having a radially inward slot which entraps the edge of the cup at the line 14. When the closure is applied to a bottle (Fig. 11) the edge of the cup is released from the bead by crimping the edge around the bottle neck as at 60, the bead forming a pull ring 6.
