Abstract

1282178 Caps for bottles &c. OWENSILLINOIS Inc 22 Sept 1969 [3 Oct 1968] 46568/69 Heading B8T A container closure cap C formed of sheet aluminium comprises a disc-like panel 20, which may incorporate a vacuum detection feature in the form of an axially deflectable dome (22), Fig. 1 (not shown), and a depending annular skirt 21, a rubber or plastics sealing gasket or ring 25 lying against the interior surface of skirt 21 and being bonded at the junction of panel 20 and skirt 21 to the cap C, a pull-tab 27 being formed as an integral part of the ring 25. To remove the closure C the tab 27 is pulled, thereby stretching the sealing ring 25 and breaking score lines 23, Fig. 2 (not shown), located in the skirt 25 thereby expanding skirt 21 and thus aiding in its removal. A venting channel 29 may also ease cap [C] removal by admitting air to the container on initial displacement of gasket 25.
