Abstract

1519005 Measuring gas concentration electrically ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 11 Sept 1975 [4 Sept 1974] 37327/75 Heading G1N [Also in Division G3] In an I.C. engine, ionic currents are measured in the combustion chamber and used to control an engine parameter (see Division G2-3). As shown the sensor is incorporated in a sparking plug having two ignition electrodes 16, 17 and two sensing electrodes 18, 19. Ionic currents in the plug are sensed, the time taken for a flame front to pass between the sensing electrodes being indicative of the engine air-fuel ratio.
