Abstract

1511021 Tobacco pouch BRDR SCHUR INTERNATIONAL AS 23 April 1975 [23 April 1974] 16908/75 Heading A4G [Also in Divisions B5 and B8] A tobacco pouch or the like, Fig. 1, made by folding a strip of sheet material at 4 to provide a front panel 14, a rear panel, and a closure flap extension 8, and joining the side edges of the panels to define a flat bag portion 6, is provided with a transverse zone of adhesive 18 so located that when the top of the bag portion is folded about a second transverse fold line 16 the free edge 12 of the front panel lies adjacent the zone 18 and the extension 8 is releasably held to the exterior of the bay at said zone. As described the pouch is made of a single plastics sheet, or of a plastics/paper/plastics laminate. The adhesive zone may be provided by a pressuresensitive adhesive substance or a double-sided tape coated with such adhesive, or by magnetic or electrostatic means. The zone may be located near the top or bottom of the panel 14 and the extension 8 may be long enough to fold about the rear of the pouch as shown in dashed lines in Fig. 2. The mouth of the pouch is sealed by the edge 12 of the panel 14 and the extension 8 being attached to the zone 18. A pouch assembly may be made by folding a web 22, Fig. 7, at the line 4, forming welds 20, applying adhesive 18 by a spray or, as shown, a roller 26, folding the web at 16 and forming slits 28 between welds 20. The assembly is then fed to a filling machine, Fig. 8 (not shown), where a knife (32) cuts along the fold line 4, material is inserted into each pouch from a device 34, the pouch is reclosed by a weld 36, and individual pouches are separated by a cutting device 38.
