Abstract
1518392 Packages MITSUBISHI PETROCHEMICAL CO Ltd 4 March 1976 [8 March 1975] 08714/76 Heading B8C A package 1 comprises a package body adapted to be torn open along a predetermined tear line; a sticker attached to the package body and defining the tear line having an increased resistance to tear and imparting a rigidity to an open end of the package when said package is torn open along the predetermined tear line; and a tear guide cut-out provided at, at least, one end of the predetermined tear line. The marginal edges of a pair of polyethylene films, laminated with aluminium foils are thermally bonded together, the package being filled with juice. A pair of vinylchloride resin tapes of a width of 5-20 mm are bonded to the upper portion of the body at the front and back to provide a narrow gap, e.g. of 0À5 to 3 mm between them and define the tear line with the cut out at one end. In a modification, Fig. 4, a package made of polyethylene tube is provided with a central seal 2b to provide a pair of closed chambers 7a, 7b, a single tape 8 with continuous, and interrupted slits 8a, 8b respectively being attached to the body 2 to extend completely around it. The slits have respective cut outs 9a, 9b. A tear line may be defined by a pair of vinylchloride resin tapes (3, 4), Fig. 5, not shown, attached diagonally across an upper corner of the package. A pair of stickers (3, 4) attached to an elliptical-shaped body (2), Fig. 6, not shown, co-operate to form a zig-zag tear line therebetween. The two tapes 3, 4, Fig. 2, may be replaced by a single tape (10), Fig. 7, not shown, provided with a centre perforation line (11) having a cut out (6) at one end. A package, Fig. 8, has a tape 4 firmly bonded immediately below an upper, rigid, bonded area of the package with a very small distance defined therebetween to form a tear line 5 with a cut out 6. The package may be made of thermoplastic synthetic resin such as polyethylene, polypropylene, &c., a metal film, such as aluminium foil; or paper; or a combination thereof as laminates.
