[Also in Division B8] A packing material comprises two opposed portions of paper coated at least at its marginal areas with a heat sealable material, the portions being secured together along at least part of their margin so as to define an interior volume, at least part of the marginal securing being by heat-sealing of the two portions together, and an unattached ply of resiliently compressible sheet material disposed within the interior volume and extending over substantially the whole of that volume. The paper may be kraft paper coated over all or at least at its marginal areas of one face with polyethylene. The two opposed portions may be constituted by a single piece of paper folded once and having strips adjacent to the fold and at the other edges heat-sealed together. The ply of resiliently compressible material may be corrugated paper or cardboard comprising a corrugated sheet backed by a plain sheet, cellulose wadding, shredded paper or embossed paper. An open bag may be produced from a rectangular portion of the packing material by folding inwardly about parallel fold lines two approximately equal lateral rectangular areas of the material so that the free edge parts of the areas overlap and securing the overlapping parts together with an adhesive, an end part defined at one of the other opposed edges of the rectangular portion being then folded inwardly about a fold line parallel to that edge and secured to the main body by adhesive. The bag may be used as a postal pack, the open end being folded down and secured to the main body by means of an adhesive or by stapling after the contents have been inserted.
