Abstract

1509901 Aqueous hydrocarbon fuel emulsions P J W AYRES 4 April 1975 [5 Jan 1974 28 Aug 1974] 00537/74 and 37579/74 Heading C5G [Also in Divisions Fl and Bl] A fuel mixture comprising an emulsion of water in hydrocarbon and containing a surfactant is fed to an internal combustion engine by a particular arrangement (see Division Fl). The hydrocarbon may be an octane petroleum fuel, a heavy petroleum fraction or a kerosine petroleum fraction. The surfactant may be a lipophile and/or hydrophile. In an example, a mixture of sorbitan monooleate, polyoxyethylene sorbitan monolaurate, water, and high octane petrol is referred to.
