Abstract

150,890. Brampton, F. W. Aug. 15, 1919. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Disk wheels comprise a main disk 3 extending from the hub sleeve 2 to the rim 1 and a dished stiffening plate 5 of smaller diameter secured at or near its periphery to the main disk, all the parts being permanently secured together. The inner edges of the plates are flanged inwardly as at 6, and may abut together or against shoulders 13 on the hub sleeve the ends of which are turned up as at 8 over the plates. The rim is secured to a flange 4 on the main disk. The stiffening plate is secured to the side of the main disk by spotwelding or riveting. The space between the inner edges of the disks may contain distance pieces of wood or a ring of metal tubes 10 and hollow rivets 11 which serve to take the bolts for securing the wheel on the axle.
