Abstract

150,834. Knipe, A. C. June 14, 1919. Double walls.-Channelled blocks a are provided with internal ribs b somewhat out of centre and longer than the terminal ribs c, so that when two blocks are placed opposite each other to form a compound block or in building a cavity wall, the ribs b overlap and are tied in by the ribs c of adjacent blocks in the courses immediately above and below. The ribs b are of somewhat less height than the body of the block, and are provided with insulating insets e of earthenware, china, bitumen, &c. by which the passage of damp across the wall is prevented. The outer face of the wall mav be built of blocks made of broken stone &c., while the blocks of the inner face may be of clinker, breeze, or other cheap aggregate.
