Abstract
1507518 Casting concrete piles HIGGS & HILL Ltd 7 Oct 1976 [10 Oct 1975 27 April 1976] 41583/75 and 17126/76 Heading E1H A concrete pile is formed by introducing fluid concrete into a pilehole which may be lined by a sleeve, compacting the concrete and adjusting the level of the concrete, if necessary, so that when it sets the top surface of the pile is at a predetermined level, and constructing a pile cap directly on the top surface. Reinforcing bars 9 may be incorporated either before or after pouring the concrete and a former 3 comprising a metal ring 4 and steel members 5 having a hole 6 for accommodating a tommy bar may be used to ensure that the top of the pile is formed at the required level. Earth that falls on top of the concrete can be removed by an "L"- shaped scoop (Fig. 3 not shown) and the concrete may be levelled using a "T"-shaped tamper (Fig. 4 not shown). The pilehole may be bored by an auger or by drilling a steel former into the ground.
