Abstract

1,087,187. Reinforced concrete piles cast in situ. INTRUSION-PREPAKT, Inc. Sept. 3, 1965 [Sept. 3, 1964], No. 37740/65. Heading E1H. A reinforced concrete pile 10, Fig. 1 formed in situ in a hole in the ground 9 surrounds a reinforcing rod 11 having an anchorage of spaced rods 21 extending outwardly and upwardly from -its lower end, and a protective sleeve 25 surrounds the upper part of the rod 11, the rod 11 being tensioned between the anchorage and the top 28 of the concrete pile. Greater forces can then be withstood by the pile than without the tensioning operation. The sleeve 25 may be of steel or paper or may consist of a thin layer of grease or bituminous preparation which will prevent adherence of the concrete to the rod 11. When the rod 11 is offset the pile is particularly adapted to resist horizontal forces such as where the earth 9 is removed from one side of the pile, Fig. 2 (not shown).
