Abstract

1507286 Electrical insulating compositions NAPHTACHIMIE 10 June 1976 [12 June 1975] 24115/76 Heading C5F Electric cables, including telephone cables, are insulated longitudinally by filling them with a composition comprising 90 to 99 parts by weight of a hydrocarbon oil having a viscosity between 5 and 1500 cS at 50‹C. and 1 to 10 parts by weight of a wax mainly constituted by an ester of an aliphatic acid and an aliphatic alcohol or by a mixture of such esters, and melting above 70‹C. The hydrocarbon oil may be a mineral oil or a synthetic oil, e.g. a polybutene. The wax may be carnauba wax or hydrogenated castor oil. The composition may also contain, for each 100 parts of oil plus wax, not more than 5 parts by weight of microcrystalline parawax melting in the range 80 to 130‹C and with a penetration less than 3.
