Abstract

150,515. Stevens, W. H. Aug. 5, 1919. Sock - suspenders. -A suspender which can be used as a side garter or as a leg encircling garter is shown in Fig. 1, a joint member 18 connecting t w o lengths of webbing 16, 17 which have fastenings 19, 25 respectively attached to them. Each fastening has a specially-shaped slot 20. When used round the leg, the joint member 18, which may be a ring, is engaged by a hook-shaped part 22 of the fastening 19. The webbing 16 engages the narrow part of the slot as shown when used as a side garter, the hook is disengaged, the webbing is passed round to the other end of the fastening 19, and the garment is engaged by the slot 20. The slot 20 may terminate in a narrow portion which is straight, curved, or bifurcated as shown in Fig. 10. A pair of slots 27, 28 may be provided to engage the webbing.
