[Classes 43 and 141] Certain straps of a parachule harness are interconnected through the intermediary of slide buckles such that the straps may be tightened after the harness is fastened and unintentional loosening is positively resisted in wear, while the straps may be readily loosened without unfastening the harness if the buckle is tilted so that its locking bar is free to slide. The buckle comprises a frame 34, Fig. 2, a slide bar 32, and an end bar 33 which is thickened to provide a portion 35 offset from the plane of the frame and adapted to bite into the strap 23 when tension is applied. The harness shown comprises a sling 10 with a chest strap 19, 20 slidable thereon, and back straps 23 which are adjustably connected to the sling by slide buckles 15, 16, are looped through slots 11 ... 14 in the sling, and are continued as a back waist strap. The loops 24, 25 carry an eye 26 and hook 27 for connection respectively to a hook 40 and an eye 41 adjustably connected by slide buckles 46, 47 to leg straps 38, 39. The application of the slide buckles to other forms of harness is described. In one form, the back straps are continued as breast straps the ends of which are adjustably connected to slide buckles secured on the ends of a separate back waist belt. In another, the chest straps are adjustably connected to slide buckles secured on the upper ends of the back straps, the sling continuing as lift webs which are freely slidable through the buckles. In another, the lift webs are slidable through adapters which connect shoulder and chest straps, the latter being connected to the back waist belt by the slide buckles.
