Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A safety belt comprises one or more strap portions which are looped for passage through a slot in an anchorage member and a bar which is threadable through the looped portion and is removable from the anchorage member, such that the free end of the strap loop can be drawn around the bar to vary the effective length of the strap and under load remains tensioned whilst when the strap is slackened the bar can be separated from the anchorage member and withdrawn from the strap loop so allowing the loop to be separated from the anchorage member. The strap end 11 is looped through slots in two aligned plates 3, 4 and a bar 9 is passed through the loop and retained by curved end portions 10 engaging the edges of the plates. The plates have each a hooked extremity which engage the anchor bolt 8 from either side. The belt may engage in a slot in a single fastener which makes fixed connection with an anchor bolt or part of a vehicle. The sides of the bar may be roughened or rounded.
