Abstract

150,418. British Thomson - Houston Co., (General Electric Co.). May 30, 1919. Cooling parts.-In a turbine having ahead and astern sections upon one shaft, overheating of the idle-running astern section is prevented by the introduction of comparatively cool steam taken from a point adjacent the last ring of blades of the ahead section. The steam is led by a pipe 11 to the inlet of the idle section. The pipe is preferably of a flattened oval section and may be fitted with a non-return valve 12. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 131,428.
