Jib cranes.-The rotary cr sluing motion of a davit or crane is controlled by a brake- 3 actuated by the fall or hoisting rope 14 through a sheave 13, rope 10, and levers 8, 5. Thus whenever there is a load on the fall, thedavit is prevented from rotating until the brake is released bv a hand-lever 17 connected to thebrake-lever 8. When there is no load on the fall, the davit can be held against sluing by means of the hand-lever and the brake.
