Abstract

1490280 Pneumatic separating FORSBERG'S INC 20 June 1975 [21 June 1974] 26328/75 Heading B2H An apparatus for separating particulate material comprises a perforate, triangular deck 16 which slopes downwardly towards its front edge 16.1 and also slopes downwardly along its front edge from one corner 16.7 to the other 16.8, the deck being mounted for oscillation on a fixed base 12; means for moving air upwardly through the deck; an outlet 14.3 for delivering particulate material onto the deck; and an air outlet 22.2 arranged to direct air through the material falling from the outlet 14.3. The air stream introduced through the outlet 22.2 entrains the very light particulate material and carries it through an overhead exhaust part 14.2. The said air stream also distributes the remainder of the material over the oscillating deck 16; the lightest particles 11.2 being transported towards the lower front corner 16.8 and the heaviest particles being deposited near the rear corner 16.4. The movement and inclination of the deck cause all the particles thereon to travel towards the front edge 16.1, the lightest partides spilling over the edge adjacent the corner 16.8 and the heaviest particles spilling over the edge adjacent the comer 16.7. The particles are collected in a hopper 12.1 divided into compartments by partitions 17.1 whose positions can be adjusted by means of handles (17.3).
