Abstract

1370801 Blasting VACU BLAST Ltd 26 April 1972 [30 April 1971] 12320/71 Heading B3D [Also in Division B2] An impact finishing machine is provided with apparatus'for segregating non-reusable particles and dust from particulate material, the said apparatus comprising a sloping perforate plate 12 down which the material slides, a sealed cavity 13 below the plate and connected to a source of compressed air, and a further plate 14. In use, particulate material moves along the plate 12 and is formed into a fluidized bed, the particles separating into two layers according to their size or density. Particles which are too small for re-use pass above the plate 14 and may be drawn off into a suction duct 15. The re-. maining particles are re-circulated to the impelling wheel 3 via a hopper 2. They may be conveyed from the hopper to the wheel 3 by means of a further fluidized bed arrangement. In another embodiment, Fig. 6 (not shown) the perforated plate 14 is replaced by a cone (20).
