Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the degradation in the refractoriness of reconditioned molding sand and to improve the yield of recovery in the stage of reconditioning the recovered molding sand by adsorbing and removing magnetic materials with an electromagnetic roller while suspending and fluidizing the molding sand. CONSTITUTION:Molds after casting are collapsed, and are disintegrated to a powdery state, after which the metallic pieces contained therein are recovered and further grain sizes are controlled with oscillating sieves, after which the binders on the surfaces are removed. This molding sand is supplied from the supply part 11 of a reconditioning device 5 into a case 8. The molding sand is blown up by the blast from a blower 10 and is suspended and fluidized on a perforated floor plate 9. The roller 14 is rotated in the fluidized bed of this molding sand, so that magnetic materials such as chromite sand, slag and the like contained in the molding sand are adsorbed on the surface thereof. These are stripped with a brush 15 and are separated through a chute 17 into a recovery part 16. The purity of the molding sand is improved, the degradation in refractoriness owing to the entry of the above-mentioned magnetic materials is prevented, and the yield of recovery of the reconditioned sand is improved.
