Abstract

PURPOSE: To plan reproduction of good casting sands and reduction of shot loss by separating casting waste sands into casting sands and magnetic material by a drum type magnetic separating machine, and then, separating the magnetic material into steel shots and magnetic minute particles by a centrifugal type magnetic separating machine.
CONSTITUTION: Casting waste sands 10 fed continuously by a conveyer on a drum type magnetic separating machine A are separated into nonmagnetic casting sands and magnetic material by the magnetic separating machine A, and the casting sands are recovered through a trough 7a in a casting sand recovery container 7. On the other hand, magnetic material is fed to the top of the peripheral surface of a truncate cone 3 of a centrifugal type magnetic separating machine B by a feeder 6, and steel shots which are strong in magnetism are separated on the lower stage separating plate 13 and recovered in a steel shot recovery container 9, and magnetic particles which are weak in magnetism are separated onto the upper stage separating plate 11 and recovered in a magnetic minute particle recovery container 8.
