Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress the rising cost in mold making and achieve the effective utilization of resources by separating Ni from the casting sand being discharged from casting process and in the meantime reusing the remaining NiO-contained casting sand in casting process.
CONSTITUTION: Molds are molded by the casting sand containing NiO, and the molds having completed casting are cooled then knocked out to recover the casting sand. The recovered casting sand is ground if necessary or heated in a roasting furnace, after which it is passed through a magnetic screening device, whereby it is separated to ferromagnetic Ni and non-magnetic NiO-casting sand mixture. The separated Ni is used as Ni raw material for the specified applications and on the other hand the NiO-containing casting sand separated separately from Ni is subjected to composition control of NiO, etc., after which it is mixed with an organic binder and is again used as the casting sand containing NiO.
