Abstract

1328398 Blasting BADISCHEMASCHINENFABRIK GmbH 10 Dec 1970 [11 Dec 1969] 58750/70 Heading B3D A method of cleaning and recovering a magnetic abrasive blasting agent comprises separating material from the magnetic abrasive blasting agent in a pneumatic separator 6, passing part of the separator material out with the gas from the separator while passing the remainder over a magnetic separator 17 where non-magnetic material is separated out and discharged while magnetic material is conducted to an abrasive blasting agent circuit of a blasting machine. In apparatus for carrying out the method, a throwing wheel 2 slings abrasive medium into a chamber 1 at the bottom of which is a device 3 for conveying the spent abrasive to a bucket elevator 4 along which may be a separator for large foreign bodies. From the elevator, the medium passes to the air separator 6 where it falls over cascades 7 and through which air is drawn by a fan, relatively large particles falling into an expansion chamber 8. A fine fraction passes from the apparatus through a pipe 9. The separated material is fed by a pipe 11 to a container 14 having a throttle valve 16 leading to the magnetic separator 17 from which non-magnetic material is discharged through an outlet 18 and recovered blasting medium passes through a pipe 19 to the blasting medium circuit. In another embodiment, a preliminary magnetic separator is disposed between the elevators 4 and pneumatic separator 6.
