Abstract

1485121 Electric space heaters PARRY GREEN Ltd 18 Sept 1974 [23 June 1973] 24622/73 Heading F4S An electrically heated panel intended for space heating comprises a heating member 3 consisting of an electric heating element embedded in fire-resistant material such as asbestos disposed in front of a heat reflecting member 2, with an insulation gap 7 therebetween. The electrical energy supplied to the heating member 3 through a control unit 11 is regulated in accordance with the thermal condition of the panel as sensed by a thermal sensor 12 positioned to sense the temperature at or adjacent the heat reflecting member 2, the sensor acting on the thermal control unit 11 to interrupt the voltage supply to the heating member when said temperature at or adjacent the heat. reflecting member reaches a predetermined value. The sensor 12 may for example be positioned on or behind the member 2. As shown a thermally insulating member 13 is positioned in the air gap 7 to raise the thermal energy level at which the heating panel operates. A decorative front-facing panel 4 is positioned in front of the heating member 3 and may be of steel or asbestos with a front face which may be painted, enamelled or tiled.
