Abstract
1293081 Electric igniter and control system for burners ROBERTSHAW CONTROLS CO 27 Feb 1970 [28 Feb 1969] 9711/70 Headings F4F and F4T An electric ignition and control system for burners comprises a fuel valve 16 which opens a predetermined time after the application of current thereto to supply fuel to a burner and closes much more rapidly when the current is interrupted; an igniter 10 which when heated by current ignites the burner and a heat responsive electrical device 12 to sense the temperature of the igniter 10 and by a change in an electrical characteristic enable current to be supplied to the fuel valve 16 when the igniter is at or above the ignition temperature. The device 12 is a negative temperature coefficient thermistor. The isolating transformer 24 may be omitted, Fig. 1 (not shown), or replaced by a relay (26), Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown). In the circuit of Fig. 4, the valve 16 is energized from a thermocouple (32).
