Abstract

1482462 Testing photo-sensitive materials KODAK Ltd 25 Feb 1975 [26 Feb 1976] 8681/74 Heading G2X The optical density of a light-sensitive composition is measured by illuminating it with actinic light of intensity low enough to have substantially no action on the composition during the course of measurement and measuring the light reflected from or transmitted by the composition using a photon-counter associated with an integrating circuit. The method may be used for monitoring the thickness of a photo-sensitive layer during continuous coating, for monitoring the concentration of a photo-sensitive composition supplied to a coating device, or for identifying a particular photo-sensitive material in the dark. Preferably the light is mono-chromatic and has an intensity similar to that used for safe lighting.
