Abstract

1482007 Fire-retarding wall A BERG 17 Oct 1974 [19 Oct 1973] 44953/74 Heading E1W A fire retarding wall structure comprises a plurality of wall panels each of which comprises two facing panels 7, 8 between which are one or more fire retarding layers 9, 10, the vertical edges of the facing panels being formed into flanges 11 and having slots which engage hooks on vertical supports 4 between each adjacent pair of panels, the gaps being masked by cover strips 14. The supports are clamped between a floor and a ceiling by clamping elements at least one of which is resiliently loaded. The cover strips 14 also engage hooks on the vertical supports and are filled with fire retarding material 16. The upper edge of each wall panel is provided with bearing surfaces for a false ceiling. The adjacent edges of wall panels and/or supports are covered with a material which generates foam when heated in order to seal any gaps.
