Abstract
1480233 Valves BLAU KG FABRIK FUR KRAFTFAHRZUEGTEILE 21 Aug 1974 [5 Sept 1973] 36733/74 Heading F2V [Also in Divisions B8 and F4] In a closure cover or cap of the kind described in Specification 1,400,062, first and second valve members 20 and 16 adapted to open automatically respectively above and below predetermined pressures are located within a cup-shaped housing 15 formed in the central region of a partition (5, Fig. 1) within the cover. The under pressure valve member 16 is carried by the lower end of a valve rod 18 which extends, with clearance, through a central hole in the over pressure valve member 20. The valve member 20 is normally urged, via a compression spring 1711, into contact with an upstanding annular projection 15<SP>111</SP> formed on an annular stepped portion 15<SP>11</SP> within the housing 15. A further compression spring 17<SP>1</SP> is provided to urge an axially extending annular portion 16<SP>1</SP> of the valve member 16 against the underside of valve 20. Vent holes 15<SP>IV</SP> are provided in the base 15<SP>1</SP> of the housing 15. Excess pressure is vented from the container via recesses or cut-outs 20<SP>11</SP> formed around the circumference of valve member 20. When underpressure conditions prevail air can enter the container through axial grooves 21<SP>1</SP> formed in a bush 21 of valve member 20. The compression spring 17<SP>11</SP> may extend between the valve member 20 and a cover closing the top of the cup-shaped housing 15; if there is no top cover the spring 17<SP>11</SP> may abut the inside surface of the closure cap. A flanged head portion 19 on valve rod 18 forms an abutment for the upper end of spring 17<SP>1</SP>. The cup-shaped housing 15 may be formed with bayonet fastenings or be provided with a screw thread for fitting on to the neck of the container.
