1346440 Pressurized dispensing containers E H GREEN 27 Aug 1971 [26 March 1971] 40224/71 Heading F1R In a pressurized dispensing container valve which comprises a housing 46 containing a plunger 66 defining a socket 74, Fig.7, and having a centre post 92, which plunger is spring biased towards an annular gasket 52 through which passes a stem 98, means are provided permitting communication between the interior of the housing 46 and the bore of the stem 98 when the latter is depressed. As shown the means comprises channels 84, 86 grooves 116, 118 and channels 112, 114, the channels 84, 86 opening at their tops into a gallery 78. In a second embodiment, Figs.8, 9, 10 (not shown), no gallery is provided and the stem has a shoulder (126) which rests on the top of the plunger to space the end of the stem above the socket floor, and which partially overlaps axial channels (144), (146) in the sockets interior wall. In a final embodiment, Figs.11, 12 (not shown), radial supports (158), (156) in the socket's floor space the stem end thereabove. The end of the stem 98 is tapered in all embodiments, at 108 to assist passage of product to the stems' bore. The grooves 116, 118 are provided as deep as practical to collect residue and prevent clogging of the valve. A recess 120 may also be provided for this purpose.
