Abstract

1480104 Cracking catalyst W R GRACE & CO 10 July 1974 16025/74 Heading B1E [Also in Divisions Cl and C5] A hydrocarbon-cracking catalyst composition comprises (a) an inorganic oxide matrix and (b) a synthetic gmelinite of silica-alumina mole ratio greater than 4.5:1 and containing hydrogen cations introduced by ion exchange with an acid, any alkali metal cation being present in an amount of less than 4% wt (as oxide on the weight of gmelinite). The matrix may be amorphous, e.g. silica-alumina hydrogel or clay, or crystalline, e.g. a further zeolite. The gmelinite may be further exchanged with metals of Groups IB to VIII. The Example describes a hydrogen gmelinite in a silicaalumina-kaolin matrix.
