Abstract

1,217,861. Synthetic zeolite complexes. PETER SPENCE & SONS Ltd. 14 Feb., 1968 [22 Feb., 1967], No. 8415/67. Addition to 1,171,464. Heading C1A. A crystalline synthetic zeolite, e.g. Zeolites A, B, L, X, Y, T, gmelinite, erionite, offretrite or faujasite comprising irreversibly fixed within the anionic framework an element of Groups IB, IIA (other than Mg), IIB, IIIA, IIIB (other than B or Al), VIII (other than Ru) rare earths, Th, V, Pb and Mn and " excess silica," i.e. the amount by which the total SiO 2 content in said zeolite exceeds the amount of SiO 2 , which would have been present if none of the above elements had been incorporated. A process for the preparation of said zeolites comprises the preparation of a reaction mixture of a siliceous material, an aluminium component, a Na and/or K component and a salt of one of the elements listed above in an aqueous medium. The siliceous component has an activity of 30 units as defined in Specifications 1,171,462 and 1,193,234. The reaction mixture is heated in the range 50-150‹ C. until a crystalline product is formed. The alkali metal may be replaced by ion exchange with a metal salt. The product may be used as a catalyst in cracking, reforming, hydro-cracking hydrodesulphurization, alkylation, dealkylation, disproportionation, isomerization, polymerization or oxidation processes.
