Abstract

1473554 Razors C LIEDTKE 11 June 1974 [12 June 1973] 25929/74 Heading B4B A hair cutting device 18 comprises a blade having at least one longitudinal edge provided with cutting portions 20 and non-cutting portions 22 alternately spaced along the length of the edge. The blade is provided with apertures 16 for locating the blade in the hair cutting device which is provided with comb teeth 24. The lengths of the cutting and non-cutting portions of the blade edge may be varied, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), in order that the amount of hair cut during combing may be varied. The discontinuous cutting edge may be formed on both longitudinal edges of the blade or one edge may be continuous as shown in Fig. 1. The blade may be formed with slots 28, Fig. 4, instead of the apertures 16, the slots being provided with indents 32 for engagement with a correspondingly shaped projection on the device thereby allowing the distance between the cutting edge and the tips of the teeth 24 to be selectively adjusted; alternatively indents 32<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 4, may be formed in the transverse edge of the blade. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the slots 28 may be arranged to extend in the longitudinal direction of the blade such that the amount of cutting edge exposed between the teeth can be varied. A cross-shaped slot (36), Fig. 6 (not shown), may be provided such that the blade may be adjusted in one or other of the two directions. In a further modification, the slots may be replaced by rows and columns of holes 38, Fig. 7, such that the blade can be adjusted simultaneously in both directions.
