Abstract

1457814 Dry shavers MATSUSHITAELECTRIC WORKS Ltd 18 March 1974 [22 March 1973] 11884/74 Heading B4B An outer cutting foil or blade for a reciprocating-type electric dry shaver comprises a chamber of elongated hair entry holes b, the hair entry holes being arranged in rows which are separated from each other by narrow ribs a extending in a wave form such that the lengths of successive holes vary along the length of the ribs. The ratio of the length to the width of the holes is arranged such that the area of the holes is substantially the same. As shown in Fig. 3, the direction of the elongate holes is substantially perpendicular to the direction of movement of the reciprocable inner cutter. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the elongate holes may be inclined to the latter direction. The wave formation of adjacent ribs may vary in pitch and amplitude. In a further embodiment, Fig. 11 (not shown), the wave-like formation may be provided by interconnected straight lines. The holes may be produced in the cutter by means of punching or by a chemical etching process.
