Abstract

1472743 Support for reversible ploughs C V R DOWDESWELL 14 May 1974 [16 May 1973] 23449/73 Heading A1B A support for a frame 1 of a reversible plough is defined by a mounting structure 19, 190 which is rigidly connected to the frame 1 and pivotally carries about an axis 6 and an axis 5 a trailing arm 4 which carries a castor support 8, 12 for a wheel or skid 15. Locating member 20 rigidly carried by the mounting structure 19, 190 comprises notches 21, 22 in one of which the arm 4 is received when the plough shares 33 are in one of their two operative positions, the arrangement being such that as the frame 1 is raised the arm 4 pivots about the axis 5 to be disengaged from one of the notches 21, 22 and upon rotation of the frame 1 through 180‹, which simultaneously rotates the member 20 through 180‹, and subsequent lowering of the frame 1 the arm 4 engages in the other one of the notches 21, 22. The frame 1 is raised and rotated by means of a pneumatic ram 40. Another notch 23 is provided on the member 20 midway between the notches 21, 22 to locate the arm 4 when the frame 1 is in a transport position midway between the operating positions. To prevent undue dropping movement of the arm 4 when the entire plough is raised a check hoop 13 is provided. The arm 4 has a stop screw 18 which can provide adjustments to vary the depth of ploughing.
