Delivery, stopping; stop - motions; rollers and roller heads.-In a spinning - machine, the upper back-roller F, Figs. 1 and 4, is lifted, when an end breaks, by a plate 33 and the end held against the roller by the plate. The plate is held against the action of a spring 35 by a flexible member 44, which passes through a slot 41, Fig. 7, in a plate 40 and is secured to a spindle 9, which can be turned to adjust the length of the member in accordance with the position of the roller F. The slot 41 is formed with a notch 42 at one end in which the member 44 normally rests. When an end breaks, a feeler 60 controlled by the thread rocks on its pivot 61 and comes into the path of an oscillating member 51, being moved thereby and pushing the member 44 out of the shoulder 42 of the slot 41. The tension in the member 44 is released and the spring 35 acts to raise the plate 33 and the roller F. The member 44 passes through a spool 46 moving in the slot 41. The device is reset by a handle 73 pulling forward a sliding carriage 71, the inclined edge 72 of which engages the spool 46 and pushes it back into the shoulder 42. A metal plate 74 at the back of the carriage 71 raises the feeler 60. The carriage is pushed back after the thread is pieced. The upper roller F is carried in a hanger 20, Fig. 4, sliding through a bracket 21 and controlled by an adjustable spring 24. The upper carrier rolls H are mounted loosely and independently on a rod or shaft.
