Abstract

1465041 Medical liquid container closure AMERICAN HOSPITAL SUPPLY CORP 21 Feb 1975 [26 Feb 1974] 739475 Heading B8T [Also in Division A5] A medical liquid container 2, Fig. 2, comprises a neck having a transverse web 22 from whose apertures there extends a liquid discharge tube 28 and a liquid injection tube 30, having a selfsealing septum 34. Both tubes are covered by a tearable metal foil sheet 32. The tube 30 includes an annular flange 44, Fig. 6, which has the self-sealing septum 34 peripherally compressed against its underside by an inner tube 52 which additionally supports the septum via its central collar 56 and which provides an annular recess 60 for the deformed septum. To close the container the tubes 30, 56 and septum are assembled and a rib 68 on the bottom of the tube 30 is heat sealed to a groove 66 of the tube 56. The tubes 28, 30, 56 are heat sealed to the web 22, the metal foil sheet 32 is heat sealed to the tubes, the web 22 is heat sealed to a container neck collar 24, Fig. 2, and an outer, optionally frangible, cap 8 is heat sealed to a neck shoulder 9. The septum may be of rubber and the other parts of a propylene-ethylene copolymer. The container bottom has a central recess (14), Fig. 1 (not shown), from which depends a pivoted hanger (16). The non-recessed area has feet (10, 12).
