Abstract

928,842. Surgical infusion apparatus. ALLEN & HANBURYS Ltd. March 30, 1961 [April 11, 1960], No. 12833/60. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group XVII] A parenteral fluid container made of flexible plastic material has a pierceable closure 4 with a rigid liner 2 fitted inside the container neck 1, the closure being retained in the neck by an apertured cap 7. The liner 2 which is made of rigid plastic, e.g. nylon or propylene, has an out-turned flange 3 which bears against the outer end edge of the container neck. The closure 4 is a plug, membrane or disc of rubber or latex which forms a non-leaking attachment with a needle piercing it and reseals itself on withdrawal of the needle. The closure has a flange 6 which is secured against the liner flange by the cap 7 which is made of metal or other material which is not deformable by heat. The closure has a central spigot 5 which fits in the liner which may include a transverse septum (Fig. 3, not shown). The closure and the cap may have co-operating peripheral skirts (Fig. 2, not shown) which fit around the container neck.
