Abstract

938,531. Douches. S. NORDSTROEM, and F. PAULSEN. April 4, 1962, No. 12971/62. Class 81 (2). Apparatus for introducing liquids into the rectum comprises a pliable bottle 10 having a neck portion 16 with an integral hollow pipe 12 secured to the neck portion and a protective flexible sleeve 14 fastened to the bottle adjacent the neck and selectively manipulatable lengthwise of the bottle between positions completely enclosing the bottle and entirely enclosing the pipe 12 as indicated by item 14 in full and in chain-dotted lines respectively in Fig. 1. A cap 13 retains liquid in the bottle. The bottle is of polyethylene or of soft rubber and the sleeve a transparent sheet of polyethylene film. The sleeve may be secured by an elastic ring seal 15. Alternatively the sleeve may be formed as a flattened tube with the edges of one end joined together at 18 and the bottle protruding through an aperture in the sleeve as in Fig. 3, the sleeve being heat sealed to the bottle around its periphery at its junction with the neck portion 16 (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown). In a further embodiment the hole in the sleeve is smaller than the perimeter of the body and greater than the perimeter of the pipe (Fig. 6, not shown). The bottle is intended for single use.
