Abstract

1469043 Seaming AMERICAN HOSPITAL SUPPLY CORP 21 Feb 1975 [26 Feb 1974] 7393/75 Heading B5K [Also in Divisions B8 and A4] A medical liquid bottle has a neck 8 secured to a dispensing adapter 9, an upstanding collar 16 on the adapter telescopically fitting into an upstanding collar 18 on the neck with the outer terminal ends 17, 19 of the collars being near to each other and fused together to form a joint the side surfaces of which converge together. A heating die with an annular groove (31), Fig. 5 (not shown), may be used to fuse the ends together, the side walls of the groove being inclined at an angle of 20-50 degrees to one another. The end 17 may be slightly higher than the end 19 and engage one side wall of the groove before the end 19 engages the other side wall so that air can escape from the groove before the ends are sealed together. Alternatively the ends may be sealed ultrasonically. The bottle and adapter may be of a propylene-ethylene copolymer. The adapter has a tubular medication port 13 sealed by a puncturable resealable rubber diaphragm, and an outlet port comprising a spike guiding sleeve 91, and a puncturable diaphragm 93 with an annular rib 94 to prevent cracking.
